RMG Group — a multi-floor Cairo-based supplying and contracting firm — came to Charge+ with a fragmented IT environment that was creating operational risk on multiple fronts.
Employees working outside the office had no secure way to access the company's internal file server, forcing staff to rely on personal storage solutions and email for file transfers — a direct security and compliance risk. The company also operated on a single internet service provider with no redundancy, meaning any ISP outage caused a complete halt to operations across all floors.
On the software side, RMG was paying recurring per-user fees for Trello without the reporting, helpdesk integration, or audit trail needed to manage IT operations effectively. There was no centralized ticketing system, no SLA visibility, and no data on issue trends or resolution times. Physical security was also absent — no CCTV, no access control, and no unified monitoring across the premises.
The Solution
Charge+ took full ownership of RMG's IT environment under the Core+ Managed Services Plan and delivered a structured set of improvements across infrastructure, connectivity, software, and security.
Odoo Community Migration — Cost Saving Charge+ replaced Trello's paid SaaS subscription with Odoo Community Edition, fully open-source and self-hosted on RMG's existing VPS. This eliminated recurring per-user licensing costs entirely while consolidating Project Management, Helpdesk, and Inventory/Assets into a single unified platform with native reporting and full audit trails.
VPN Remote Access — Productivity A secure site-to-site VPN was deployed, giving all remote and field employees encrypted access to the internal file share server from any location. Staff can now connect their mapped network drives and work with company files seamlessly from outside the office — exactly as if they were on-site.
Dual ISP + Load Balancing — Resilience A second ISP (Orange Egypt) was provisioned alongside the existing WE Telecom connection and integrated into the Sophos XGS firewall with SD-WAN load balancing. Network traffic is now distributed across both lines simultaneously. If one ISP fails, all traffic automatically shifts to the other with zero interruption to operations.
Helpdesk Ticketing System — Visibility Charge+ implemented a structured helpdesk ticketing system that captured all IT requests throughout FY 2025. A total of 55 tickets were logged and resolved, with hardware issues accounting for 44% of volume, followed by server and file management at 24%. The system provides full audit trails, resolution time tracking, and SLA reporting.
CCTV & Access Control — Security A Uniview 16-channel NVR with 5MP cameras was deployed across RMG's premises, alongside a ZK-Teco fingerprint access control system. The total infrastructure investment was EGP 33,744, providing comprehensive physical security coverage for the first time.
Infrastructure Upgrades — Performance Charge+ executed 22 hardware-related tickets throughout the year, including RAM upgrades across 5 workstations, a 4TB NAS HDD addition to the primary server, procurement of 3 new laptops, and SSD and GPU upgrades across critical user machines.
IT Environment Overview
RMG's managed environment runs on a Dell PowerEdge T630 host running VMware ESXi with 7 virtual machines — including the Primary Domain Controller, File Server, Sophos firewall VM, Microtek ERP database, and a remote access gateway. The network is segmented across dedicated VLANs for servers, user LAN, surveillance, wireless, and remote VPN, all protected by a Sophos XGS perimeter firewall.
The Active Directory domain (RMG-EG.LOCAL) manages 28 active users across 6 departments including Automation, Finance, Tech Office, Management, Electromechanical, and Administration — all operating across 37 domain-joined computers on Windows 10 and Windows 11 Pro.
File sharing is handled by a dedicated Windows Server 2016 file server with 10 SMB shares, 7 of which are department-restricted with access-based enumeration and SMB encryption enabled.
Results & Outcomes
>95% System Uptime SLA-backed availability across all managed systems, with a maximum of 6 hours allowable downtime per month under the Core+ plan.
4x Faster Issue Resolution Average ticket resolved in under 4 hours, compared to a 16+ hour industry average for unmanaged environments.
~EGP 246,000 Annual Savings Charge+'s Core+ Plan costs EGP 8,000/month — compared to an estimated EGP 30,000/month for an equivalent in-house IT hire including salary, benefits, training, and overhead. The annual saving is approximately EGP 200,000, equivalent to 2.5 headcount.
Zero Recurring SaaS Licensing Costs Migration to Odoo Community eliminated all Trello subscription fees — saving approximately EGP 36,000 per year with a one-time setup investment.
Zero Downtime from ISP Failure Dual ISP with automatic failover means no single-point-of-failure risk. Both lines are actively utilized, maximizing available bandwidth during normal operations.
Full Physical Security Coverage 9 Uniview IP cameras across all floors and a fingerprint access control system provide complete premises monitoring for the first time in RMG's history.
